Enter the Musical Kids Program to WIN $5-$10k for Your School!

Hometown Fest are giving away two grants worth $5,000 and $10,000 in our Musical Kids Program. The competition is open to all Queensland schools and entries will be judged by our Hometown Heroes Brooke Schubert and Route 33.

Schools are invited to submit one song per group. There are two age classes – one for primary and one for high school students, and prizes will be awarded to the respective schools as a grant to be used towards their music programs.

In addition to the grants, the top 5 groups from each category will have their video submissions live streamed during the Hometown Fest event and on our social media channels. The winning groups will also be invited to perform their songs live on stage during Hometown Fest.

Musical groups can have up to 10 members and to qualify, they must be singing in their performance – instruments are encouraged but not required. For more information about the competition and application requirements, please see our FAQs below or refer to our terms and conditions.

Applications are open now and close on November 1st 2019. Winners will be contacted on November 10th 2019 and announced on our social media channels in the following weeks.

FAQs

Songs / performances must be filmed and then sent via video. The video recording can be uploaded in MP4 format or sent as a link to a YouTube, Dropbox or Google Drive file.

No, the song does not have to be an original composition.

No. Instruments are optional – to qualify, your group must sing.

There is no age limit, however all members of the group must currently be enrolled in the same school. The prizes cannot be split amongst different schools.

Yes, solo performers may apply.

Yes. Each group can only submit one entry, but schools can have multiple groups.

There are two prizes – the Primary Section winner will be awarded a $5,000 grant for their school’s music program, and the High School Section winner will be awarded a $10,000 grant for their school.

We are currently accepting applications for the competition. All applications must be received by November 1st 2019 to be considered. Winners will be contacted by November 10th 2019 and then announced via social media in the coming weeks.

The winning groups will be performing live at Hometown Fest at Brisbane Showgrounds on 24 November 2019.

Any school within Queensland is eligible to enter the Musical Kids Program, however please note that one of the prizes includes a live performance at our event which is held at Brisbane Showgrounds. No additional funding or prize money will be allocated for travel costs.

All forms must be submitted by a responsible adult. By submitting the online form, it is agreed all parental consent has been received by the submitting adult.
