Join Hometown Fest at Ekka 2019!

Hometown Fest are excited to announce our partnership with the 2019 Royal Queensland Show, aka, Ekka.

Running from August 9 – 18 at the Brisbane Showgrounds, the Ekka 2019 brings together country and city life for a celebration of all things Queensland (just like Hometown Fest!). From supporting local communities and producers through to local music, the Ekka is a Queensland tradition that’s played an integral part in childhood memories for over 140 years.

For Hometown Fest, the Ekka is synonymous with everything we represent at our festival, and that’s why we’ve decided to partner up with them to give attendees a taste of what’s in store at the Brisbane Showgrounds in November this year.

Like the Ekka, Hometown Fest offers something for all ages. With free daytime music and entertainment, followed by ticketed arena shows with some of Australia’s biggest local and international acts, Hometown Fest is the ultimate celebration of our local art, culture, people and industry. Just like the Ekka, we’re bringing the bush to the city, and you’re invited.

Live Music at Ekka:

Head to the XXXX Stockmen’s Bar this Ekka 2019 and you’ll hear Hayley Jensen and Casey Barnes on 16 August at 8:00PM and 9:45PM respectively, sponsored by Hometown Fest. Hayley Jensen is a rising star in Australian country music, having reached a top 5 place at the 2018 CMC awards for ‘New Artist of the Year’ and reaching the semi-finals in the International Songwriting Competition for her single ‘This Love’. Casey Barnes is another local success story. Hailing from the Gold Coast, he’s had hits in Europe, tours across the States and is currently recording his fourth studio album.

And you couldn’t go to the 2019 Ekka and miss out on hearing Hometown Heroes Brooke Schubert and Route 33! Catch Route 33 at XXXX Stockmen’s Bar from 8PM on August 8, and hear from Brooke on August 8, 11, 13 and 15. Full set times for Brooke Schubert are available here. Learn more about our hometown heroes and read our interview with Route 33 to learn what ‘Hometown’ means to them.

On August 17 you’ll see Brooke once again at the Stockmen’s bar, this time hosting the Country Music Showdown, where Hometown Fest Director Jess Anderson will join the judging panel to find the Australia’s next country music stars (who will also get to perform at Hometown Fest!).
